10 benefits of Vitamin C serum
There are many forms of vitamin C, and many of them are great for skin. Ascorbic acid has the most skin related research of any form of vitamin C for that reason, although it’s a lot more expensive form of Vitamin C it’s the form used in Skinkissed Serum.
Using anti aging serum can help maintain a healthy, youthful complexion long into the future plus deal for women (or men) of all ages and skin types, the skin care benefits of vitamin C serum are numerous – below are ten benefits:
1. Reduces under eye bags
Vitamin C has been found to help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of under-eye circles. This is great for those who are tired of trying to conceal the dark circles under their eyes and want to enjoy a more youthful, bright, and vibrant appearance.
2. Speeds up healing
Studies have also found that high levels of Vitamin C can help to speed up the body’s natural healing processes. This makes it ideal for use on the face and other areas of skin, as it can help to heal small cuts, acne scars, and other blemishes more quickly and effectively.
3. Reduces skin discolouration
If you suffer from skin redness or other discoloration of the skin, then a quality vitamin C serum may also be able to help you achieve a more uniform skin tone and better complexion. Specifically, vitamin C is great for reducing embarrassing redness. With just a few uses, you may find that you have a more even skin tone.
4. Keeps skin looking younger
No matter what your age, it’s always a good idea to be active about avoiding wrinkles, sagging skin, fine lines, and other signs of aging. Vitamin C can help your skin look younger for longer, not only by stimulating collagen production, but by evening out your skin tone and brightening your complexion as well.
5. Improves moisture
If you suffer from dry skin, vitamin C is a must. This is especially true if you have tried using moisturizers and cremes in the past, only to find that your skin is still dry and flaky. Withtopical vitamin C products , you can enjoy the high concentration of vitamins that your body truly needs to improve moisture content and overall hydration.
6. Creates healthier skin
In addition to improving your skin’s overall complexion, vitamin C can brighten otherwise dull skin, allowing it to look healthier and more vibrant. Strong concentrations of this vitamin leave the skin looking and feeling replenished and revitalized.
7. Reduces inflammation
It has also been found that vitamin C, in high enough concentrations, has inflammation-reducing qualities. This is ideal for people who tend to wake up in the morning with unsightly puffiness around the eyes or other areas of the skin/face. A little bit of vitamin C serum can go a long way here.
8. Speeds up the healing of burns
Finally, in addition to protecting your skin from sun damage, vitamin C can also be effective in helping to speed up healing of sunburns. Apply some after you have been sun burned, and the vitamins will help to promote faster healing so you can get rid of redness and find relief from itching, burning, and other symptoms associated with sunburn.
9. Promotes collagen production
The bane of any woman’s existence are fine lines and wrinkles but rather than give into the abyss of aging, the regular use of vitamin C products can combat their very appearance because of their concentrated levels of antioxidant-rich vitamin C, which helps boost collagen production, filling in fine lines and wrinkles. As a result, you may find that you have more youthful looking skin without the need for any expensive and potentially risky cosmetic work!
10. Protects the skin from sun damage
In addition to its anti-aging benefits, topical vitamin C is also great for protecting your skin from damage especially from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. That’s because vitamin C is an antioxidant, so it naturally helps to strengthen your skin and repel things that could damage it. Of course, topical vitamin C should not be considered an alternative to wearing sunscream, but when combined with regular suncream application, it can really work wonders for your skin.
About Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid has powerful anti aging properties and is also one of the premier hydrating ingredients for skin, even for an oily, sensitive or breakout-prone skin and it helps retain over 1,000 times its weight in water within the cells of skin, making it an excellent moisturiser and works by acting as a cushion and lubricant in the joints and other tissues.
Hyaluronic acid can enhance moisture content beyond comparison with anything else, and at the same time revitalise skin’s outer layers so they look and feel softer, smoother, and, especially, radiantly hydrated! That’s how it instantly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition it may also affect the way the body responds to injury.
I found out the following from Webmd – hyaluronic acid:
“Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally present in the human body. It is found in the highest concentrations in fluids in the eyes and joints. The hyaluronic acid that is used as medicine is extracted from rooster combs or made by bacteria in the laboratory.
There is also a lot of interest in using hyaluronic acid to prevent the effects of aging. In fact, hyaluronic acid has been promoted as a fountain of youth.”
Collagen in a serum wow!
While the body produces its own collagen, as people age, the production of this protein slows down and the skin begins to lose its firmness and elasticity so using a serum theoretically adds it back in.
Collagen serum products can either be comprised of pure collagen or have other ingredients contained within them, such as vitamin C like this one and a number of different antioxidants to improve the look and texture of aging skin. When applied to the skin, collagen serum works to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and help the epidermis retain moisture.
It does have like Glycerin but Glycerin is a colourless and odorless liquid that comes from plant sources which means it has the property of attracting water to itself and ingredients like glycerin can help maintain hydration and prevent skin irritation during the cleansing process.
What’s Rose Water useful for
Rose water aka Rosa Damascene is created by distilling rose petals with steam – it is fragrant and sometimes used as a mild natural fragrance as an alternative to chemical filled perfumes!
It also can:
- Soothe skin irritation.
- Reduce skin redness.
- Help prevent and treats infections.
- Heal cuts, scars, and burns.
I had no issues whatsoever with my partially sensitive skin and the Serum is actually supposed to help with this, so I am used it as part of both my morning and evening routine. I am quite lucky in that I don’t really get spots or breakouts however the reviews on their page are really a testament to how amazing this product is at helping with breakouts and clearing up acne too!
I love the black and gold packaging, which would look very classy on anyone’s dressing table. The pipet applicator makes it easy to use, simply add 10 to 15 drops onto the palm of your hand and smooth over your face, neck and lips in the morning and evening.
Their instagram boasts a massive following of 64.1k followers so they must be doing something right!
This serum as mentioned is packed with Vitamin C and soaks in quickly to the skin so great for a primer or underneath your normal moisturiser. Skin feels smoother on first application plus hasn’t got a scent either so you know there isn’t any extra additives, furthermore, the products are also 100% cruelty free.
There are so many benefits of vitamin C as it hydrates your skin and while it’s easy to go out and find lotions, creams it’s important to know that your skin needs a very high concentration of this vitamin in order to see results. This is why you’re encouraged to use concentrated serums rather than a basic moisturiser or lotion.
It’s great this product has collagen in it because it’s so beneficial for youthful skin! A collagen serum may have a positive effect on the surface of the skin when used on a daily basis and in most cases, the serum acts as a topical treatment that stimulates production of the protein in the dermis, as the skin cannot usually absorb collagen directly as the molecules are too big.
Is it worth the price
Fair question – the Skinkissed Vitamin C Serum retails at £29.95, which I originally regarded as over priced for a 20ml bottle, however, considering that it is a multi-purpose serum that actually works, I would deem that a bargain buy as better than splashing out on one of those expensive high end skincare products that does exactly the same thing as a drugstore product.
What’s even better though is, if you are not satisfied with the product, Skinkissed will provide you with a full refund and help you to find a product catered to your skin’s requirements so you literally have nothing to lose! They also have a multitude of offers when you go on their page if you spin their lucky wheel you can get up to 25% off an entire order.
20% of every purchase made with Skin kissed will go to charities that support children with mental health disabilities.
