ABOUT UXB SKINCARE
Little bit of background behind the company – this is a company who wanted to make products designed to take care of our skin.
- Shaving cream
- Body scrub
- Face cleanser
- Face mask
“At UXB we thought that there must be a better way of getting the skin free of dirt and pollution in a less harmful way.
In our research we found that not only was there a better way to cleanse, but cleansing with natural additives could increase the effectiveness of these active ingredients.
We have dedicated our company to developing luxury bath and body products that contain the best oils, herbal extracts and vitamins in formulations that are designed to deliver great experiences and results.”
JUNIPER BERRY & CREAM CLEANSER
lovely design, has a very ‘hippy design’ to it and simplistic colours – gold, white and purple in a tube easy enough to hold or travel with.
The lid is easy to take off and the pump is easy to press – I use about 3 pumps as it doesn’t lather – described as ‘Non foaming gentle cream formulation.’
The smell is lovely! Has a rich creamy texture and smells like a Spa! This cleanser has a subtly citrus scent with base note of patchouli.
Throughout the day while out and about we’re constantly surrounded by pollution in the form of cars and also susceptible to sun damage which causes aging of the skin as the aim of the product is to remove all that grime and grease!
Pollution sticks to our face and releases free radicals that cause premature aging too so it’s important to get pollution and dirt off of the skin when we get home.
When you wash your face and body your skin soaks up water and becomes slightly more porous and that’s when you have the opportunity to get ingredients deeper into the skin. During cleansing that you also have the opportunity to lock in epidermal moisture before it is lost to evaporation (sometimes called trans-epidermal water loss – TEWL).
Feed the skin
Juniper berry extracts feed the skin as you cleanse.
Remove free radicals
Antioxidant rich oils from Acai and black seed oils mop up pollutants and free radicals caused by sun damage
Gentle coconut based cleansers remove any impurities as you wash your face
Easy to use
Perfect for parents and carers who deserve a luxury, quick wash when you need to cleanse multiple times a day without drying the skin – also handy if you work out for an easy cleanse.
Easy to use as you massage two or three pumps of cleanser onto dry skin then wipe off with a cloth/towel. Rinse if you choose.

Juniperus (Juniper Berry) Communis Infusion
They make Juniper Berry infusion by steeping dried Juniper Berries in warm deionised water. Juniper Berries contain Terpineol, Terpinene and Pinene which are chemicals that can help heal skin.
A planet friendly ingredient made from renewable coconut oil and fruit sugars. It is completely biodegradable.
They use it to make their products foamy and gently cleansing. It also helps the wonderful essential oils that we add to their products mix with water – click here for more information.
Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil
Juniper Berries contain Terpineol, Terpinene and Pinene which are chemicals that can help heal skin. It is also an antioxidant.
Juniper Berry essential oil has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties making it one of the most popular natural remedies for fighting skin irritations, such as rashes or eczema. Juniper is often used to tone the skin and help lighten blemishes and scars.

WHAT ARE ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants are compounds produced in your body and found in foods. They help defend your cells from damage caused by potentially harmful molecules known as free radicals.
Examples of antioxidants include vitamins C and E, selenium, and carotenoids, such as beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin.
“Antioxidants are substances that work interactively inside and outside of the body’s cells, protecting cell membranes from the damaging effects of highly reactive molecules called free radicals. It is antioxidants that protect us, and literally “break the chain” of potential chemical destruction within the body.” Natural Balanced Food say.
WHAT ARE FREE RADICALS
Free radicals are associated with human disease, including cancer, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and many others.
They also may have a link to aging, which has been defined as a gradual accumulation of free radical damage.
When free radicals accumulate, they may cause a state known as oxidative stress! The body is under constant attack from oxidative stress!
Oxygen in the body splits into single atoms with unpaired electrons. Electrons like to be in pairs, so these atoms – called free radicals – scavenge the body to seek out other electrons so they can become a pair – this causes damage to cells, proteins and DNA.
“Free radicals and other ROS are derived either from normal essential metabolic processes in the human body or from external sources such as exposure to X-rays, ozone, cigarette smoking, air pollutants, and industrial chemicals.” Says an NCBI article.
USE BOTH FACE WASH AND CLEANSER
Depending on your routine you may use it before you put makeup on or before washing.
The foaming action and micro-level cleansing of a face wash cannot be substituted by a cleanser alone.
Here’s what you could do:
- Use a gentle face wash just once a day. Morning or evening, depending on requirement. And avoid soap altogether.
- Use a gentle cleanser once or twice a day.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLEANSER AND FACE WASH
While both cleansers and face washes do the basic common job of cleansing your face and both face washes and cleansers are used to rid impurities!
- Cleansers are used to rid your face of dirt, oil, pollution etc.
- Removes dissolves away excess oil, makeup and grime from your face. These are oil-soluble impurities.
- A cleansing lotion/cleansing milk (or simply called “cleanser”) is non-foaming in nature and doesn’t have to be washed off and instead needs to be wiped off.
A face wash
- Washes face.
- A face wash is a foaming cleanser.
