A slumber party, also known as a pyjama party or sleepover, is a party, commonly held by children or teenagers, where a guest or guests are invited to stay overnight at the home of a friend, sometimes to celebrate birthdays or other special events! The sleepover is often called a “rite of passage” as a young child, or a teenager, begins to assert independence and to develop social connections outside the immediate family

My children and their friends were lucky enough to be able to try four teepees! Two of which were Enchanted Garden and the other two being Space. As a Lincolnshire blogger it’s so awesome such cute things like this are available as I haven’t seen any of these around!

teepees and kids!

First impressions were super positive! The teepees went up quickly, good quality and well thought out with the details to the theme.

The children also got to try the hot chocolate bar which comes with marshmallows, hot chocolate powder, squirty cream and spoons!

Well, regardless on the sort of party you’re having whether it be for your children or for an adult (lets face it doesn’t matter what the age you want your own teepee – it can be great for wedding do’s or big birthdays!) you need pyjamas!

Get all of the party supplies you need!

Sit down and make a list of everything you’ll require to make the slumber party a success! Don’t forget food such as snacks or meal, movies, decorations or anything else you might want (depending on age of course! Kids don’t want steak and wine!)

Be sure to check with your friends or family about whether or not they have any food allergies, or if they are vegetarians/vegan.

If you plan on having your guests stay for breakfast, then you should also plan to make sure you have some breakfast food, such as cereal, croissants, yoghurt and fruit!

If you plan on playing any games you don’t have, then make sure to buy them or to have a friend bring one over – because people can bring things too!

Here are some fun examples of themes/activities you may want to try out:

  • Let’s not forget the Snooze Squad offer cool themes!
  • Crazy hair day.
  • Dressing up as your idols.
  • Outdoor Glamping.
  • Crafts.
  • Cooking/baking.
  • Alice in Wonderland.
  • Hawaiian day.
  • Knights and Dragons.
  • Think Pink day.
  • Princess attire.
  • Teddy bears picnic.
  • A tea party.
  • Play hide and seek.
  • Animal day (you can dress as your favorite animal)
  • Everyone dressing as their favorite book character.
  • A holiday theme like Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween or Christmas.
  • A Movie Night.
  • Spa treatments.

1. Independence –

There’s nothing like your child’s Beavers camping trip to show up the children who have experienced sleepovers and those who haven’t. The ones who aren’t used to sleeping away from their parents are often scared (not all but some – remember all children are so different!)

As parents, we have to build up independence that enable our children to manage without us for short stretches of time and sleepovers whether at a friend or family member are a great way of achieving this in a safe and controlled environment Sleepovers can also (potentially) enable children to learn new skills such as, packing clothes, getting ready for bed without mum and dad being around, and overcoming separation anxiety.

2. New experiences –

A sleepover is a great way for children to experience things like new foods and even cultures. Bedtime routine will be different but it’s important for children to get used to adapting to different situations.’

If your child doesn’t jump for joy at the thought of staying at someone’s house without you it isn’t an issue as it’s all based on time and growth. You’ll know they’re ready when they say they’d like to try it and start packing a bag and planning games to play – my eldest has a friend she enjoys sleepovers with. You could suggest they try out a sleepover with cousins or grandparents first or what about try hosting a sleepover at your home. Too many children can not only be a new form of hell – particularly for newcomers to sleepovers – but it can be stressful for the parents.

3. Encourages communication skills –

Children are forced into doing more things for themselves without you there to rely on if they are at someone else’s house whether that’s asking for a drink or just figuring out where the bathroom is!

4. Gives you a break –

There’s no doubt that children bring joy and happiness but they can be straight up annoying too, wearing down even the most stoic parents every now and again. By taking a break from your children – or even just one of them – once in a while, you get to take care of yourself and recharge your batteries, ultimately making you a better parent as you get to appreciate time together especially as they are growing up.

5. Sleepovers are fun for Children! –

Children need downtime and fun and a sleepover with friends offers them just that!

6. Children learn how to behave in someone else’s home –

Every household has its own rules and expectations of course and sleepovers give children an opportunity to learn that social boundaries can be different and how to adapt to those. Whether their friend’s parents are stricter or more relaxed, it’s all good practice for operating in the world.

You can help make the transition for children staying at your house smoother by being upfront with your own house rules such as, you’ll be collecting all their tablets/iPads and books and when it’s bed time.

7. Children get to make and strengthen relationships –

Sleepovers are great bonding exercise for children and if your child isn’t the only one invited on the sleepover, they might make some new friends too!

The themes that are available are so thoughtful and cute!

You can literally do slumber parties for all sorts of reasons and with these teepees there can be unlimited themes and options and are awesome!

There’s no set age when children begin having sleepovers but I think four and above best with these Teepees for sleeping in but children vary a lot in terms of when they (and their parents) feel ready. For some children, a sleepover at a friend’s house is their first time away from home and it’s a chance to spread their wings and practise for longer separations such as camps, I found the fact my children and their friends could come and chill in a situation that felt more fun and they could play and feel more independent.

Very positive thoughts on the whole of the package from the quality of the goods to the ease of use.

The children were so excited to be able to have magical looking teepees with the pretty lights and as my daughter said “felt like nature around me.” The hot chocolate bar was super cool with the Alice in Wonderland frame – felt super stylish!

I love how pretty the Enchanted Garden is (it could even be used for photo props! I’ve taken so many photos I can’t post them all for fear of overloading people!) and the Space theme you can let your children’s imagination run wild!

Best to note the Teepees were safe as CE approved which is important – for more details on being CE Approved click here.

The Snooze Squad offer different solutions for children who perhaps aren’t ready for sleepovers, such as, day slumbers which are amazing as slumber parties are big events for children! Also, the fact the teepees are indoors in your own home your children can have the option to feel safe but also feel grown up at the same time – to enjoy a special closeness with friends, to tell silly jokes or scary stories, to laugh and shout til the parents go crazy!

Disclaimer – My children and I were kindly lent 4 teepees for the night to review plus the hot chocolate bar, any content created was not paid and all opinions my own, my children’s and their friends!
