What is ScrummyU

It’s natural , handmade, organic products for all the family made by lovely mum of two. The products specialise in dry skin and dry hair formulations, so nourishment using kind ingredients is her mantra plus handmade and made to order for ultimate freshness!

There are no nasties like synthetic agents which are more likely to irritate childrens skin, instead there are lovely, natural organic products which feed and nurture your child’s skin without a paraben in sight!

“My love for kind skincare has grown just as our family has grown, so now his sister enjoys the benefits too. She came along with a different issue of dry hair, and now 7 years on i’ve been crafting beautifully enriching natural products for her hair too.

I’ve had nine years to experiment and adapt and even shared our scrummy creations with family and friends, and it was they who encouraged me to commercialise it.”

Uses of butters on skin

Shea Butter: has proven time over time to be one of the best natural emollients, but that’s likely because it has the most research. Shea Butter is naturally rich in Vitamins A, E, and F, as well as a number of other vitamins and minerals.

Vitamins A and E help to soothe, hydrate and balance the skin. Vitamin F contains essential fatty acids and helps protect and revitalize damage skin and hair.  Shea Butter absorbs quickly.

Rich in fatty acids, the butter from the shea nut increases collagen production, strengthens and improves skin elasticity.

This is going to be a go to butter for removing scars, cellulite, dry skin, stretch marks, itchy skin, skin rashes, Eczema and Dermatitis, sunburn, small skin wounds and damaged/rough skin, insect bites/skin allergies, muscle aches, fatigue and tension, wrinkles and signs of aging PLUS nappy rash!

Cocoa Butter: Take one whiff of raw cocoa butter and you just know there are good things in store for your body and hair.

Rich in antioxidants, cocoa butter creates a natural barrier between your body’s natural oils and the rest of the world that tries to break it down by protecting your skin.

Cocoa butter reduces inflammation and can moisturize from your scalp all the way down to your feet.

Mango ButterMango Butter has natural emollient properties, wound healing, and regenerative activity.

Traditionally used in the rainforests and tropics for its skin softening, soothing, moisturizing and protective properties and to restore flexibility and reduce degeneration of skin cells. It has a protective effect against UV radiation.

Has many benefits such as soothing dry skin, heals skin rash, heals skin peeling, clears blemishes and wrinkles, relieves itching skin, heals sunburn, can treats small skin wounds and skin cracks, moisturises and smoothes tough or rough skin, prevents stretch marks during pregnancy, relieves insect bites, promotes healthy rejuvenated skin and treats eczema and dermatitis too!

Uses of essential oils

Essential oils are pretty awesome! Their skin supporting properties can sometimes be used to help different skin types as you’ll be able to see with the variations of products.

Lavender Oil: is probably one of the most versatile – it can be used for pretty much any skin type. It can treat Bee sting / Insect bite, minor burn, cuts, Eczema/Dermatitis and nappy rashes.

Its antiseptic properties also help skin to heal faster, while fighting and preventing further infection and also when applied to hair or scalp, this may prevent common hair or scalp issues. In particular, it may prevent itchy scalp or dandruff and even infection.

Chamomile Oil: is one ingredient you want in your skincare routine especially when treating children as whether dry skin, or inflamed areas it has a little to help every type of skin type.

The benefits

  • Strong Anti-inflammatory, great for sensitive and acne prone skin types who have inflammation.
  • Anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant.
  • Excellent healing abilities to minor skin wounds, process by disinfection.
  • Helps fight and block out irritants by eliminating free radicals which damage your skin and accelerate the aging process.
  • Antioxidant rich, helps reduce acne inflammation, breakouts, and minor scars.
  • Increase the penetration and effectiveness of other skincare topicals.
  • Soothes and heals burns.

Coconut Oil: This is a truly spectacular oil with a deep and mildly intoxicating scent of pure Coconut pulp and it is one of the most revered oils for nutritional purposes.

It’s a wonderful moisturizer for skin – it provides a softening and soothing effect as well as being  an excellent skin nourisher – the skin absorbs the fatty acids and uses them to energize your skin to heal and maintain itself.

It is a proven unique anti microbial and antiseptic – especially lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, have been shown to possess antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties and treating psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections.

Almond oil: is a popular ingredient in natural beauty products as it’s mild and soothing oil is beneficial for both the skin and hair. The moisturizing effects of almond oil may be especially helpful for people who have dry or sensitive skin.

This quality makes almond oil an excellent choice to keep the skin, hair and scalp soft and hydrated – so great for those babies!

It’s packed with vitamin E, which may help protect the skin from sun damage and premature aging.

Avocado Oil: As well as being super healthy to eat it’s great for skin too!  It has many healthy components, such as vitamin E, potassium, lecithin, fatty acids and chlorophyll. And, since it’s stable, it can be stored for long periods of time.

Promotes skin healing too because of its rich content of oleic acid and essential fatty acids, avocado oil is being considered as a viable option for treating skin wounds.

It gently moisturizes the oil proved to be an effective topical treatment for chronic plaque psoriasis, with its benefits remaining constant during the entire observation period. For those with itchy, dry, sensitive skin, avocado oil offers gentle, non-irritating relief.

Peppermint Oil: As mentioned is soothing and cooling as well as being able to control oil levels. The oil can be used for many skin types too and especially good at balancing out natural oils, making beneficial for oily or acne-prone skin.

Other benefits are the refreshing and light aspect to it allowing it to cool and soothe any inflamed or sunburnt areas.

Plus has stimulating properties. Peppermint promotes blood flow and helps to liven up your skin. The menthol helps to brighten and wake up your skin so you are left looking fresh and hydrated!

Overall thoughts

After trying the Lip Balm and Body Mousse I can easily say I love them both for many reasons.

I love how it’s Vegan friendly as well as being preservative, paraben and cruelty free and as it’s formulated by a mum for children everywhere you feel confident in using it.  I applied the ‘melted’ mousse to my sons hair too to tame it which it did.

The business owner – Hilda – who makes them genuinely seems to enjoy what she does which also is great to see.

The butters and essential oils are readily absorbed by the skin and due to their natural properties they are less likely to irritate so it felt great to apply to all my children regardless of their age – these products are packed with nature’s finest. So cost wise you are paying for the ingredients plus time it takes too make them.

Homemade moisturisers tend to be the easiest way to use these oils on your skin, but you can also add them to your favorite cleanser, mask or toner. Toner, masks, and oil cleansing are also great ways to use your essential oils so would be awesome to see these products branch out one day!

With these products they can also be great for adults due!

All the products are freshly made, by hand, in small batches to guarantee high quality fresh skin products each time you order.

  1. I have been trying to use more natural products lately and have invested in my first shampoo bar! These sound like great products, especially the lip balm. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next time

  2. #thesatsesh id be interested to know what the packaging was like in the delivery? it seems silly to buy a product with so many eco and moral aspects and then have it in a plastic pot. Glad you enjoyed them though hun. I love a lip balm in my bag, or a deep coat pocket.
